About Richard

Richard Barry

Every musician in Manchester knows Richard: he is one of the most fondly revered performers on the UK folk circuit and Debt Records is making it their business to bring his work to a wider audience (whether he likes it or not).

In the past Richard has supported the likes of Bob Geldof, Kiki Dee, Midge Ure, Fairport Convention and Dr Feelgood;. He is also a much-demanded voice-over artist, narrator and actor.

Though famously reclusive, Richard is, at long last, taking centre stage.

Recently Richard collaborated with Louis Barabbas and Alabaster Deplume on Debt Productions’ musical “Dead At The Café Styx” and performed it to much acclaim at the Brighton Fringe Festival (and later Studio Salford) where he was described by one (particularly morbid) reviewer as having a talent that “Vivian Stanshall would roll around in flames for”. The following month he played one of the most talked about sets at the Kuiperfest acoustic festival in North Spain and received a standing ovation at the prestigious Dancehouse Theatre later in the year.
